Managing Users and Roles
Control who can access your Crow's Nest organization and what they can do.
Required role: Admin
Roles
| Role | Capabilities |
|---|---|
| Admin | Full access to everything: create/edit/delete all widgets, dashboards, and connections. Manage organization settings, users, configs, and example prompts. |
| Member | Create and edit their own widgets, dashboards, and connections. Can only use data source configs that an admin has granted them access to. |
| View-Only | View dashboards and widgets. Cannot create, edit, or delete any artifacts. |
Inviting users
- Go to Organization Settings → Users tab.
- Click Invite User.
- Enter the user's email address.
- Select a role: Admin, Member, or View-Only.
- Click Send Invite.
The user will receive an email invitation. Until they accept, they appear in a Pending Invitations section.
Changing a user's role
- Go to Organization Settings → Users tab.
- Find the user in the list.
- Click their current role to change it.
- Select the new role.
Role changes take effect immediately.
Granting config access
Members only see data source configs that you explicitly grant them access to. After inviting a member:
- Go to the Users tab in Organization Settings.
- Find the user and open their config access settings.
- Check the configs they should be able to use.
Admins automatically have access to all configs. View-only users don't need config access since they can't create connections.
See Config Access and Permissions for more details on how access cascades.
Removing users
- Go to Organization Settings → Users tab.
- Find the user and click Remove.
Removing a user revokes their access immediately. Widgets, dashboards, and connections they created remain in the organization.
